While keeping providing clean power for the host country where the project is located, China Datang actively fulfills its overseas social responsibilities by building stronger connections with the local community. Here is a CSR story happened in Laos, and reported by Vientiane Times.

As one of the companies listed annually among the top 500 global companies by total revenue, the Fortune Global 500, China Datang Corporation Ltd. believes in “providing clean energy and lighting up a better life" in order to support the development process of Laos, especially with regard to local adaptation and social responsibilities.

Working together with all sectors of society, China Datang has created small but important steps in improving the standard of living in Laos, giving people a brighter future.

As a part of the company’s societal development, in March this year 10 teachers and students, majoring in hydropower engineering at the College of Engineering, National University of Laos, enthusiastically participated in youth exchange activities titled Z Generation, carried out by China Datang (Lao) Pak Beng Hydropower Co., Ltd.

They watched a video about "Belt and Road Initiative" and heard about the development concepts and achievements of China Datang.

Programme participants also had face-to-face discussions with the company's young employees from Laos and China to learn more about China's "Belt and Road Initiative” and the concept of "green development".

For more than 10 years, China Datang Corporation has built communication platforms in various ways during important occasions such as International Women’s Day, International Labour Day, Lao National Day and other events to communicate extensively with people in different areas of employment in Laos as well as building mutual trust, deepening friendship and promoting coordinated and common development.

In May this year, a young Lao employee at China Datang and a lecturer in the "Morning Star Classroom", Ms Yang Na, gave a talk titled "Lighting Up" to a class of Grade 5 students at Champa Primary School in Sikhottabong district, Vientiane.

The talk, with the theme “Light Up the World and Fulfill Your Dreams" unfolded a beautiful picture of green development, planted the seeds of green development in the hearts of pupils, and encouraged them to study hard and run towards their dreams.

For more than 10 years, China Datang has carried out "Morning Star Classroom" activities in schools in Vientiane as well as in the provinces of Oudomxay and Xayaboury, explaining the green development concepts and achievements of the "Belt and Road Initiative" and encouraging pupils to actively participate in green development and build a beautiful home together.

During the Lao New Year celebrations in April this year, China Datang offered New Year blessings to impoverished residents of Champa village in Sikhottabong district, Vientiane. As part of this caring activity, China Datang donated household essentials to poverty-stricken families to help them overcome the financial hardship they are suffering.

China Datang also gave stationery and sports equipment to the village's primary school to encourage children to study hard and become useful members of society.

For more than 10 years, the company has carried out humanitarian activities in disaster-stricken areas of Laos, in impoverished mountainous areas in the north, and among poverty-stricken people in Vientiane.

China Datang will continue to thoroughly implement the Action Plan for Laos-China Community with a “Shared Future”.

By adhering to the concept of "building a power station, driving the local economy, protecting the local environment, benefiting the local people, and jointly building a harmonious community", China Datang will fully use its conceptual, technological, platform, brand and talent advantages in hydropower development to deepen cooperation with people from all walks of life in Laos, and to promote the green development of the Lao economy and give hope for a brighter future.
