DAPEIN Hydropower Station: Harmonious Coexistence between Enterprises and the Environment

June 5, 2023 is the 52nd World Environment Day. This year's slogan is “Plastic Reduction and Plastic Picking Up”, a call to take action to reduce the use of plastic and clean up plastic wastes in the environment.

In recent days, DAPEIN(I)Hydropower Station has taken the "World Environment Day" as an opportunity to organize Chinese and Myanmar employees to carry out a series of themed publicity and environmental improvement activities for the power station, practicing the new development concept of “building a modernization in which man and nature live in harmony” .During the activity, Chinese and Myanmar workers braved the scorching sun to thoroughly clean up the road between the plant building and the living area and the sanitary dead corners around the living area, focusing on removing scattered plastic bottles and bags. In addition, Chinese-Myanmar bilingual promotional banners, theme lectures and other carriers were also used to widely publicize the activity, guiding and educating Chinese and Myanmar workers in various forms and angles to take joint actions, pay attention to and participate in environmental protection, and strive to be active disseminators and model practitioners of the concept of ecological civilization.

DAPEIN (I) Hydropower Station is the first clean energy project invested and constructed by China Datang Corporation. During the construction and operation of the power station, it adheres to the tenet of “ecological priority and green development” and continues to strengthen corporate environmental management. Especially in the past five years, the construction of the “Beautiful DAPEIN Hydropower Station” has been continuously progressed. A total of more than 1,500 fruit trees such as mango and citron trees and seedlings with local characteristics have been planted in the plant area, living area, and on both sides of the road. The environment of the power station has been continuously improved and enhanced.

As of June 1, 2023, the hydropower station has achieved safe operation for 3,985 days, with a cumulative power generation of 10.096 billion kwh, saving about 1.24 million tons of standard coal, reducing about 830,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions and about 20,000 tons of sulfur dioxide emissions, finally achieving a harmonious coexistence between enterprises and nature.

China Datang Corporation Helps High-quality Talent Training in Myanmar's Power Industry

China Datang Corporation is a sponsor of the “Silk Road Business Council-China Committee”. As a Fortune Global 500 company and one of China's top five power generation groups, it is closely connected with the “Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Center” of the Ministry of Water Resources of China, and has a long-term cooperative relationship with Hohai University, a famous “water conservancy and hydropower” university in China. China Datang Corporation is invited to be involved in "Lancang-Mekong Cooperation High-level Water Resources Talents Program" (including Chinese government scholarship) jointly organized by Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Center and Hohai University every year. Since 2019, it has successfully invited six high-level talents from countries in the Mekong region, including Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam, to study at Hohai University for three consecutive times. The students from Thailand invited in 2019 have completed their studies and returned to Thailand, while the rest are still studying.

DAPEIN (I) Hydropower Company Limited is a joint venture registered in Myanmar by China Datang Corporation and the Ministry of Electric Power of Myanmar. It is committed to serving the investment, construction and operation of power infrastructure in Myanmar, and attaches great importance to the training of young generation of power talents in Myanmar. In 2022, with the help of the School of International Relations of Yunnan University, the School of International Relations of Yunnan Minzu University, and the FTIC in Mandalay, three outstanding young talents from Myanmar were successfully invited to Hohai University for further study. In 2023, the company has been entrusted again to invite outstanding young talents from Myanmar to study in Hohai University through the relevant departments, the FTIC in Mandalay and our partners in Myanmar. As in previous years, applicants will be selected for admission to Hohai University in early September through the process of recommendation, application and public interview. DAPEIN (I) Hydropower Company Limited will wholeheartedly provide comprehensive and high-quality counseling and services for outstanding young talents in Myanmar.
