Zou Lei, Chairman of China Datang, held talks with Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov on November 4, in Shanghai. They engaged in discussions on enhancing cooperation in the energy, electricity, and joint technology research and development sectors in Uzbekistan.

Also present at the meeting were Li Jianwei, Vice President of China Datang, and Farhod Arziev, Uzbek Ambassador to China.

Aripov spoke highly of China Datang’s achievements in energy and power, green and low-carbon transformation, energy technology, and innovative development in Uzbekistan. He emphasized the strong and friendly relationship between Uzbekistan and China, expressing his support for Chinese companies participating in energy development and construction in the country. 

China Datang is dedicated to promoting green transition, which aligns with Uzbekistan’s strategic goals, said the prime minister, adding that the Uzbek government is ready to offer full support for China Datang's project advancement and expansion of cooperation in Uzbekistan. 

Aripov encouraged China Datang to leverage its strengths, speed up ongoing projects, increase investment in new energy projects in Uzbekistan, and play a bigger role while building on the existing technological innovation collaboration at the joint research center.

For Zou’s part, he expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Aripov and the Uzbek government for their support for China Datang in Uzbekistan. He then briefed Aripov on the development of the Buka Solar PV project, the establishment of the joint R&D center, and the progress of upcoming projects. 

In view of the favorable investment environment in Uzbekistan, the robust momentum in infrastructure development, and the growth potential in the new energy sector, China Datang will increase its investment in Uzbekistan's new energy industry, Zou noted that looking ahead, China Datang is committed to promoting Uzbekistan's energy development by leveraging its expertise in energy project operations, the innovative capabilities and cutting-edge technologies of Chinese enterprises along the supply chain.

China Datang aims to facilitate the successful execution of high-standard projects, establishing a benchmark for energy and power collaboration between China and Uzbekistan. This initiative will significantly contribute to advancing energy cooperation under the BRI, he said.

The meeting was also joined by executives from the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Mining and Geology, as well as heads of relevant departments and enterprises of China Datang.
