Zou Lei Holds Talks with Kazakh Minister of Energy Almasadam Sätqaliev

Zou Lei, Chairman of China Datang, held talks with Almasadam Sätqaliev, Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan in Astana, on Sept. 24. Li Jianwei, Vice President of China Datang, was present at the talks.

During the talks, Zou briefed Sätqaliev on China Datang’s overall development, highlighting its 

construction and operational capabilities in the Belt and Road participating countries. Kazakhstan is the country with the largest regional economic volume and the strongest comprehensive national strength in Central Asia, he said, adding that Belt and Road Initiative was launched by President Xi Jinping in 2013 during an official visit to Kazakhstan.

Zou expressed China Datang’s willingness to make full use of its power supply chain, including  strengths in resources allocation, technology integration, and finance, to further collaborate with Kazakhstan's Ministry of Energy on new energy investments and smart energy projects. The Corporation will contribute its solutions and strength to Kazakhstan’s green development. 

Sätqaliev welcomed Zou and the delegation he led. Noting that the Kazakh government has currently implemented a national plan for secure and efficient energy infrastructure, he said this plan prioritizes green and low-carbon transformation, as well as the development of renewable energy sources. 

The minister emphasized the ample opportunities for collaboration between Kazakhstan and China in the energy sector, and extended a warm invitation to China Datang to actively engage in investing and constructing power and energy projects in Kazakhstan. 

Furthermore, he hoped that China Datang could share its rich experience in clean energy development, and green and low-carbon practices to drive the green, low-carbon development in energy transition.

Zou also engaged in discussions with Yerzhan Yelekeyev, Chairman of the Kazakh Invest National Company, in Astana on the morning of Sept. 24. They had extensive exchanges on energy and power cooperation in Kazakhstan. Li Jianwei was also present at the meeting.

Zou introduced China Datang's business overview, emphasizing that the Corporation highly values the energy development in Kazakhstan. China Datang stands ready to engage in thorough discussions, share insights, and enhance cooperation with the Kazakh Invest National Company to establish a model of mutually beneficial and win-win collaboration in the energy sector, he noted. 

For Yelekeyev’s part, he warmly welcomed Zou and his delegation, stating that as the relationship between the two countries enters another Golden 30 Years, economic and trade cooperation is embracing a new era of strategic opportunities. He is pleased to work with China Datang in jointly developing Kazakhstan energy projects, contributing to the country's high-quality economic and social development.

Zou paid a visit to the Chinese Embassy in Kazakhstan and had discussions with Ambassador Zhang Xiao regarding China Datang's investment in energy projects in Kazakhstan and other related matters at noon on Sept. 24. The meeting was also joined by Li Jianwei.

Representatives from China Datang General Office, International Business Department, China Datang Overseas Investment Co., Ltd., and Central Asia Representative Office also participated in the above-mentioned activities.
